This site contains surplus
creativity generated in 2010
as a by-product of completing a
print-published photographic
history book. Of my hometown:
Towson, Maryland, USA.

Production
on a work like
Towson creates a ton of additional material.
This gallery is the proof.

Pairs of Then & Nows
Everything appearing in this gallery was completed by July 1,
2010 and up for consideration for inclusion in the published
Towson book. In total, I made 219 pairs. 82 pairs made it into
the book. This gallery shows some of the ones that did not
make the cut. York

Recent Pairs of Then & Nows
These pairs seemed to have naturally created themselves as book production occurred because of changes in the environment I was shooting. Sometimes it was a new building, sometimes a fire. But here are some of the things that have changed in Towson from 2010 to 2011. |

Zoomed In
I felt some photographs in the Towson book scream for closer inspection. These two galleries, one for black and white “then” images and the other for color “now” pictures, show
close-ups within the photos that appeared in Towson Then &
Now. As if you zoomed in on the picture.

Superfluous
I took roughly 10,000 images of Towson in 2010. Though all were taken because of the book, not all were meant directly for the book. Many were nothing special; a few stood out.
These are some of the stand-outs.
